It is time for season 8 of Chicago Med. The new season is scheduled to release weekly from Sept. 21 at 8 PM EST. Below, we’ll explain how to watch Chicago Med online, even if you’re abroad.

Remember, we don’t recommend using unofficial sources. These tend to have very low video quality and are frequently taken offline for violating copyright. In contrast, official streams guarantee you the best-possible experience and with plenty of ways to watch (some of which offer a free trial), there’s simply no need to go anywhere else.

Chicago Med season 8 will only be shown on geo-restricted streaming services. This means that if you’re traveling abroad, you’ll need the help of a Virtual Private Network (VPN) to regain access to your usual streaming platforms.

How to stream Chicago Med online from anywhere

VPNs encrypt a user’s internet traffic and hide their true location, which helps keep their activities private while preserving their anonymity. However, these services can also be used to unblock region-locked services while on vacation.

Here’s how to watch Chicago Med abroad:

  • The first step is deciding which VPN to use. We recommend NordVPN but Surfshark and ExpressVPN are two great alternatives that work well with most streaming services.
  • Install the VPN app onto whichever device you plan to stream with. Most major providers allow five or so connections at once, so it’s fine if you watch TV on multiple devices.
  • Log into your VPN and connect to a server in your home country. This will change your IP address and allow you to access the same services you’d use back home.
  • Try to play a video on your preferred streaming service. If you’re still seeing errors, we’d recommend clearing your cookies and trying again. Failing this, you might want to try a different server or get in touch with your VPN’s customer support team.

New episodes of Chicago Med will be broadcast live, which is why it’s so important to make sure your VPN works properly ahead of time. After all, you wouldn’t want to miss the start of the premiere because of a last-minute technical issue. All of the VPNs above have 24/7 support over live chat, so getting help is quick and easy.

How to watch Chicago Med online on US TV

There are no hidden terms—just let customer support know within 30 days if you decide NordVPN isn’t right for you and you’ll get a full refund. Start your NordVPN trial here.

As always, Chicago Med will be shown on NBC. If this channel is included in your cable TV package, you’ll be able to log into the website and live stream season seven at no added cost. Don’t worry: it’s also possible to watch Chicago Med online without cable, provided you have a Sling TV, YouTube TV, fuboTV, or Hulu with Live TV account. All of these services offer a free trial but afterward, you’ll have to pay around $64.99 USD per month to continue watching live.

There is another option, though. If you’re happy to wait until the day after broadcast, you’ll find new episodes available for free on Peacock. The good news doesn’t end there; Peacock actually has every older season, and in fact, every episode of Chicago PD, Chicago Med, and Chicago Fire, none of which require a premium account to watch.

The only issue is that you’ll have to be in the US to access these services. Of course, if you’re traveling, you could just use a VPN to get a US IP address. NordVPN has a risk-free 30-day money-back guarantee, so feel free to try it for yourself. You can always claim a refund if it fails to live up to your expectations.

Where else can I stream Chicago Med online?

Although the seventh season of Chicago Med is only coming to North America for the time being, it’s fairly easy to stream older seasons in other English-speaking countries. Here’s a brief rundown of which networks are showing Chicago Med where you are:

Canada

Season 8 of Chicago Med will hopefully be coming to CityTV eventually. However, there is no news about a release date in Canada yet.

For the time being, you will have to make do with streaming series 4, 5, and 6 on CityTV – because seasons 7 and 8 have yet to arrive on the service.

If you want to watch season 7 of Chicago Med you will need to purchase it on platforms like iTunes or the Google Play Store as it’s simply unavailable for streaming anywhere for the time being. What’s more, Seasons 1–4 have also now left Netflix Canada too, so the options for watching Chicago Med are at an all-time low.

With this in mind, anybody visiting Canada who wants to watch Seasons 7 and 8 of Chicago Med will be better off using a VPN to access Peacock by getting a valid US IP address.

UK

As of yet, there is no definitive release date for Season 8 of Chicago Med in the UK. Presumably, it will be coming to Sky Witness through a Sky TV or Now TV plan – but there is no mention of a date yet in the British press. In the meantime, there are a few different ways to watch older episodes of Chicago Med online.

Instead, we recommend signing up for an Entertainment pass on Now TV; this costs £9.99 per month, includes a seven-day free trial, and lets you stream both of the latest seasons.

Due to regional restrictions, the platforms above will not let you stream Chicago Med outside of the UK. This means that you will need a VPN to get a valid UK IP address if you want to stream Now TV from abroad.

Australia

Australian fans can easily watch seasons 5, 6, and 7 of Chicago Med for free on 9Now — you just have to create an account first. Alternatively, it’s possible to watch seasons 1–4 on Netflix and Binge but bear in mind that these services are not free.

We are not sure when season 8 will be arriving on 9Now. However if previous years are anything to go by, there could be around a half-year wait for it to arrive down under. For this reason, anybody visiting Australia may want to consider using a VPN to get a valid US IP address.

Remember: you’ll need a VPN  with a valid Australia IP address to regain access to your usual streaming platforms while traveling outside of Australia.

What can we expect from Chicago Med season 8?

NBC has posted a list of returning cast members, so we can feel pretty safe in the knowledge that the show will return at full strength:

  • Oliver Platt as Dr. Daniel Charles
  • S. Epatha Merkerson as Sharon Goodwin
  • Nick Gehlfuss as Dr. Will Halstead
  • Brian Tee as Dr. Ethan Choi
  • Marlyne Barrett as Maggie Lockwood
  • Dominic Rains as Dr. Crockett Marcel
  • Guy Lockard as Dr. Dylan Scott
  • Kristen Hager as Dr. Stevie Hammer
  • Steven Weber as Dr. Dean Archer
  • Sarah Rafferty as Dr. Pamela Blake
  • Jessy Schram as Dr. Hannah Asher

As for the plot itself? At the beginning of season 8, we will finally get some closure on the fire that happened in WIll’s apartment. Hopefully, the doctors that went in to help with the casualties all made it out unscathed.

We will also find out whether Pamela will be allowed to continue operating, or whether her life as a doctor may be coming to an end. Charles and Med’s new fellow, Nellie, will help a paranoid patient, and it seems that Dylan will be facing some kind of life-altering decision.
