Britain’s Got Talent The Champions will premiere at 8 PM BST (12 PM PST / 3 PM EST) on August 31. There will be six episodes in total, meaning that the show will end on October 5, barring any unforeseen delays. You’ll find everything you need to know below, including how you can live stream BGT: The Champions online from abroad.
Note: We advise fans to stay away from the competitors’ Twitter accounts as this show is pre-recorded and the winning act has already added photos of themselves holding the trophy.
This post will only recommend official sources. Given the popularity of Britain’s Got Talent, it’s likely that unlicensed streams will be available. However, these are usually laggy and only offer low-resolution video. Additionally, third party streams can be taken offline for copyright violation at a moment’s notice. You can watch all six episodes of Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions online for free anyway, so there’s no reason to resort to unauthorized, unreliable streams.
Unfortunately, no international broadcasters have been announced as yet. This means that you’ll need a VPN to watch Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions from outside the UK.
How to stream Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions abroad with a VPN
Never used a VPN before and not sure where to start? Don’t worry; below, we’ll show you how to unblock and stream Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions from anywhere in the world.
How to watch Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions for free on UK TV
Here’s how to watch Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions online abroad with a VPN:
- First, sign up for a VPN that can unblock ITV Hub. We particularly recommend ExpressVPN but if you’re looking for a low-cost alternative, NordVPN and CyberGhost are both strong choices.
- Download and install the VPN app, taking care to get the appropriate version for your device.
- Connect to one of your VPN’s English servers. If you use a Scottish server, you’ll still be able to watch, although it’ll be on STV Player instead of ITV Hub.
- Now, create an ITV Hub account. You’ll be asked for your postal code, but ITV doesn’t actually check whether you live there or not, so any valid British postal code will work.
- Finally, try watching something. Your video should load instantly but if you see an error (“Sorry! This video isn’t available right now”), clear your cache and cookies then reload the page.
ITV is the only network showing BGT: The Champions in the UK. This means you can watch every episode live and free of charge on ITV Hub (or STV Player, if you’re in Scotland). There’s no need to worry about missing an episode, either, because they’ll each be available on-demand for 30 days after airing.
UK law requires you to have a TV license if you watch anything as it’s shown on TV. This means that you’ll need a license to stream BGT: The Champions live but not on-demand. In any case, ITV Hub doesn’t check whether you have a TV license or not, and relies entirely on an honor system.
ITV Hub and STV Player are region-locked and only available in the UK. If you’re abroad, you can log in and watch as normal by connecting to a British VPN server. Don’t have a VPN? ExpressVPN comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee so you can use it to stream the first few episodes of Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions risk-free and claim a refund if you’re not impressed.
How is this show different from Britain’s Got Talent?
The regular Britain’s Got Talent competition runs for a far longer period of time than the champions version, lasting months, instead of just six weeks. This is because acts first have to audition, then make it to the next round, and finally, compete against one another. BGT: The Champions, on the other hand, will feature notable contestants from previous seasons, removing the need for auditions entirely.
Other than this, the structure of the show remains largely unchanged. As ever, Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, David Walliams, and Alesha Dixon will be judging the acts and And and Dec will be presenting.
This isn’t to say that fans will know exactly what to expect, though. While the majority of the participants were on Britain’s Got Talent at some point, some are virtually unknown in the UK, including America’s Got Talent’s Preacher Lawson and Australia’s Got Talent’s Bonnie Anderson.
Who are the participants?
In total, 45 acts from Britain’s Got Talent and 14 of its international spin-offs will take part. These will be introduced, nine per week, until only a handful of acts remain. The first week’s acts are as follows:
- Ashleigh and Sully, a dog and its trainer
- Bad Salsa, a salsa dance act from India’s Got Talent
- Bello & Annaliese Nock, a daredevil duo from America’s Got Talent
- Boogie Storm, a dance group
- Connie Talbot, a singer
- Kseniya Simonova, a sand artist from Ukraine’s Got Talent
- The Nelson Twins, comedians from Australia’s Got Talent
- Paul Potts, an opera singer
- The Sacred Riana, an illusionist from Asia’s Got Talent
