How to Turn on Focus Mode:
The following steps will help you turn on Focus mode on your Android phone. Use this feature on Android 9 phones as it rolls out of its beta this week.
You need to remember that you need to have your Android updated to the latest version available for your device. We have used an Android device with the Pie version on it, but you can also find it on the devices with Android 10.
Step 1: Launch the Settings app on your phone.
Step 2: Locate Digital Wellbeing & Parental controls.
Step 3: Under the section, which is named Ways to disconnect, you can find Focus mode. It appears as Off on default. Tap on it.
Step 4: Focus Mode tab contains on the following messages: Pause distracting apps when you need time to focus.
Since you are using it for the first time, the Turn on now button appears in Grey colour.
The list of apps given below this button with Select distracting app is shown with a box in front of them. You can mark the box for all the apps you would like to put in the distracting app’s list.
Click on Show all apps to see the complete list.
Step 5: Once you are finished with selecting all the apps, you will see that they appear separately. This is now changed to Your distracting apps. Also, the Turn on now button for Focus mode is visible in colour, indicating you can use it now.
Tap on Turn on now.
The selected apps will be shown as greyed out in this list as well as the app location on your phone. This will now appear as Turn off now, and an additional Take a break button appears beside it. You will be restricted to use the apps while the focus mode is turned on.
Step 6: Set a Schedule button which is placed over Focus Mode turn on button. It will help you fix the time and days. You can see the days in the week, and you can select/ unselect your choice of days.
The time can be changed by tapping on Start and End, respectively.
Like the office hours can be added on your phone and after that, you can easily avail your phone.
Step 7: Use of Take a break will help you get back on the apps which are added on the distracting apps on Focus mode on your phone.
If you are finished with your work before the break time is over, you can go back to your Focus mode settings and click on Resume now.
Wrapping Up:
Note: If you are using any of the apps from this distracting list on focus mode, it will be closed immediately. It also gets removed from the app tray, so to use it again you will have to turn off the Focus mode.
This is how you can easily use Focus Mode on Android 10 and Android 9 versions as well. The feature provides an incredible way for monitoring and blocking out distracting applications, while you are trying to stay productive. We also recommend using Social Fever, if you are looking for more advanced features to help you curb your social media and smartphone addiction while taking care of Eye/Ear health and staying hydrated with a regular Water Reminder.
