The first major update for Windows 11 is here. Yes, Microsoft has started rolling out Windows 11 22H2 starting today.
Windows 11 22H2 brings several new features to Windows 11. Folders in the Start menu, drag and drop in the taskbar, all new Task Manager, new snap layouts, new touch gestures for touch devices, redesigned File Explorer, and smart app control are some of the new features introduced with 22H2.
In addition to all these new features, upgrading to 22H2 makes your Windows 11 installation stable.
Now, if you have been running Windows 11 on your computer, you might be tempted to upgrade your Windows 11 installation to 22H2. Luckily, upgrading to Windows 11 22H2 is easy, and you can keep all data and apps while upgrading to 22H2.
How to install Windows 11 22H2 update?
Step 1: Go to Settings > Windows Update page.
Step 2: Click on the Check for updates button. If the update is available, click on the Download button.
Note that the update might not be immediately available for all computers. So, it might take a few days to weeks to show up on your computer.
How to install Windows 11 22H2 right now?
If the 22H2 update is unavailable via the Windows Update for your computer, you can use the Windows 11 Installation Assistant software or download Windows 11 ISO and install it. Here is how to use the Windows 11 Installation Assistant to upgrade Windows 11 to 22H2.
Step 1: Visit this page of Microsoft.
Step 2: In the Windows Installation Assistant section, click on the Download Now button.
Step 3: Run the downloaded Installation Assistant software and follow the on-screen directions to complete the installation of 22H2.
Note that your files and apps will not be removed during the upgrade.
Step 4: After upgrading, type winver.exe in the search and press Enter to check the version number, which should now appear as 22H2.
