There are over 100,000 Modern (Metro) apps in the official Windows Store and the number is growing every day. If you are a Windows 8/8.1 user, chances are high that you regularly visit the Store in search of new, interesting apps, and install tens of apps every week.

At some point of time, we all uninstall most of the apps installed from the Store because either they are not as good as you had expected or you no longer use them.

Uninstalling an app installed from the Store in Windows 8 is fairly simple. You just right-click on the app to see app bar containing various options and click Uninstall button to remove the app from your PC.

Although we can also right-click on a desktop program on the Start screen and click Uninstall option, Windows will only open up Programs and Features window, and you need to right-click on the program name again (in Programs and Features) and click Uninstall option to initiate the process.

In Windows 8, Microsoft has simplified the process of uninstalling apps. Windows 8.1 not only allows you uninstall multiple apps and programs at once but also lets you simultaneously uninstall multiple apps from multiple PCs.

We have already mentioned about these two new features in our 50 new features in Windows 8.1 article, and this time, we have created a three-step tutorial you help guide you through the process of uninstalling multiple apps at once in Windows 8.1.

To uninstall multiple apps at once:

Step 1: Switch to the Start screen or Apps screen (click the down arrow icon that appears when you move the mouse cursor to the lower-left of the Start to see Apps screen).

Step 2: Select all the apps that you wish to uninstall. To do this, right-click on all app tiles one-by-one to see the app bar at the bottom of the screen with Uninstall option. And if you’re on a touch device, you can touch one tile at a time and swipe it up to select it.

Step 3: Click the Uninstall icon on the app bar to see a small menu with the name of all apps you have selected, and be sure to check the option titled Only from this PC if you don’t want to remove selected apps from all synced PCs.

Step 4: Finally, click Uninstall button to remove selected apps. That’s it! You just have uninstalled a bunch of apps from your PC.

NOTE: Although Windows shows uninstall option when you select multiple desktop programs on Start screen or Apps screen, clicking Uninstall option will take you to Programs and Features window only.

If you really want to speed up the process of uninstalling desktop programs, we suggest you add Uninstall option to program context menu so that you can initiate the uninstallation process by right-clicking on the program icon and then clicking Uninstall program.
