In Windows 11, you do not need third-party software to convert your Windows 11 PC into a mobile hotspot or Wi-Fi hotspot. The built-in mobile hotspot functionality can be used to share your internet connection with others.
All the recent versions of smartphone and desktop operating systems allow you to share your internet connection over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. It’s just that all operating systems call this feature with different names. For example, in Windows operating system, it’s called Mobile hotspot. In iOS, it’s known as Personal hotspot. Android calls it Wi-Fi hotspot.
There are multiple ways to turn on or off the mobile hotspot in Windows 11. This guide will show you the two easy ways to turn on or off the mobile hotspot in Windows 11.

Enable Mobile hotspot via Quick Settings in Windows 11
Step 1: Open the Quick Settings flyout by clicking on the battery, volume, and network icon on the taskbar.
Tip: You can also use Windows + A hotkey to open the Quick Settings.
Step 2: Here, click on the Mobile hotspot toggle button to turn on/off the same.
NOTE: If the Mobile hotspot button is not present, right-click anywhere on Quick Settings flyout, click edit quick settings link, click Add, select Mobile hotspot from the list, and then click the Done option.

Turn on or off mobile hotspot via Settings app in Windows 11
Step 1: Open the Windows 11 Settings app using search or Windows + I hotkey.
Step 2: On the left side, click Network & Internet.
Step 3: On the right side, click on the toggle button next to the Mobile hotspot to turn on/off the Mobile hotspot on your PC.
If clicking the button does not turn on/off the feature, click on the Mobile hotspot to open the dedicated page.
Step 4: Here, click on the Mobile hotspot toggle button to turn on/off the feature.
With default settings, the internet is shared over Wi-Fi. However, if you want to use Bluetooth to share, you can select the same on this page.
As you can see in the picture, by clicking on Properties, you can view the Mobile hotspot name (SSID) and the password required to join the Mobile hotspot.
Windows 11 Mobile Hotspot Tips
NOTE 1: The SSID of the Mobile hotspot and password required to connect to the hotspot can be viewed by navigating to Settings > Network & internet > Mobile hotspot page and then clicking Properties.
NOTE 2: When you restart or shut down your computer, the mobile hotspot automatically turns off. You will have to turn it on again if you like to share the internet connection.
NOTE 3: Windows 11 automatically turns off the Mobile hotspot to save power when no devices are connected. If you want to disable this default behavior, go to Settings > Network & internet > Mobile hotspot page and turn off the Power saving feature.
NOTE 4: Windows 11 supports connecting up to 8 devices to the Mobile hotspot. If you like to connect more devices, please use third-party software for the job.
NOTE 5: To view how many devices are connected to your Windows 11’s Mobile hotspot, open Quick Settings flyout (Windows + A). Under the Mobile hotspot button, total number of devices connected and Mobile hotspot SSID will be displayed.
