Prevent Apps from Tracking Your Activity on iPhone
Apple’s enhancements security protocols require App developers to seek user permission, before tracking their activities across other apps, websites and networks.
This makes it easy for users to deny tracking permission for Apps that appear to have no reason to track their iPhone activity and grant tracking permission to trusted Apps.
Also, you can even Stop Apps from Asking to Track your iPhone activity by switching OFF the tracking feature on your device.
1. Stop Apps from Asking to Track your Activity on iPhone
You can totally prevent Apps from Asking to Track your Activity on iPhone by going to Settings > Privacy > Tracking.
On the next screen, move the toggle next to Allow Apps to Request to Track to OFF position.
This will totally prevent all the Apps on your device from using permission seeking pop-ups to track your activities on iPhone.
2. Prevent Specific Apps from Tracking Your Activity on iPhone
It is likely that you have already granted tracking permission to multiple Apps on your device. To confirm, go to Settings > Privacy > Tracking.
On the next screen, you can Allow or Deny tracking permission for specific Apps by using the toggle located next to the Apps.
Note: Keep Allow Apps to Request to Track to ON position, so that Apps can request tracking permission.
Should You Allow Certain Apps to Track Your iPhone Activity?
You need to be aware that certain Apps have valid reasons to track your activity and preventing them from tracking can impact their performance.
For example, music streaming App Spotify won’t be able to connect to Wi-Fi speakers, if it is prevented from locating and interacting with other devices on Local Network.
Similarly, Chromecast App needs to be provided with access to Local Network, in order to be able to locate your Home Television and Project content from Smartphone to TV.
In general, you can allow an App to track your activity, only if it appears to have a valid reason to use such information.
