By now, you probably have installed the recently released Service Pack 1 (SP1) for Office 2013 or at least have heard about the release of SP1 for Microsoft Office 2013. As most of you know, SP1 includes all previously released updates via Windows Update service and also additional fixes to various issues.

Even though the download size of 32-bit SP1 is 643 MB and 64-bit is 774 MB, SP1 can be installed in a couple of minutes. But users who would like to install SP1 while performing Office 2013 installation and don’t want to install the Service Pack 1 separately after installing the Office program might want to integrate or slipstream SP1 into Office 2013 setup or even create an ISO file containing Office 2013 with SP1.

Just like previous Office programs and service packs, one can easily integrate or slipstream SP1 into Office 2013 setup with the help of Office Toolkit present in Microsoft Toolkit.

Complete the given below instructions to slipstream Service Pack 1 into Office 2013 setup and prepare an ISO file. And if you don’t have Microsoft Toolkit, you can follow the instructions mentioned in Method 2.

Slipstream Office 2013 Service Pack 1

Method 1:

Step 1: Visit this page to download 32-bit (x86) version of SP1 for Office 2013 or head over to this page to download 64-bit (x64) version of SP1 executable.

Step 2: Launch Microsoft Toolkit. When you see the following screen, click on the Office logo button to load Office Toolkit.

Step 3: Once Office Toolkit is launched, switch to Customize Setup tab and click Extract Setup button to browse to Office 2013 SFX file or ISO file. Select the SFX file or ISO file, click Open button, create a new folder and then select that folder to save all contents that you’re going to extract with the help of Office Toolkit.

Step 4: After extracting the contents of SFX or ISO, click Add Updates button and browse to the Service Pack 1 executable file that you have downloaded from Microsoft and then click Open button to begin slipstreaming SP1 into Office 2013. Be sure to add the right flavour of the Service Pack to avoid errors.

Step 5: Once Office Toolkit completes its business, you’ll see “Successfully integrated” message. Next, if you want to create an ISO file, click Make ISO button, select the setup file located under the folder where you have saved all extracted files (under the folder that you have created in Step 3), click Open button, choose a location to save your Office 2013 with SP1 ISO file, and finally, click Save button to begin preparing the ISO file. In less than a minute, you should see “Successfully made ISO” message. That’s it!

Another way to slipstream Office 2013 SP1

Method 2:

NOTE: This method only extracts the Service Pack 1 into the setup folder of Office 2013 and doesn’t integrate or slipstream Service Pack 1 into the setup, meaning that Service Pack 1 will be installed after completing the Office 2013 installation. In other words, this procedure will not update original source files of Office 2013 setup with updated files.

If you have the Microsoft Toolkit, we advise you follow the instructions in Method 1 to slipstream or integrate Service Pack into Office setup.

Step 1: Download SP1 for Office 2013 by visiting this webpage.

Step 2: Create a new folder on your desktop or any other location, and then rename it as Office 2013 with SP1. Insert your Office 2013 DVD and copy all files from your Office DVD to this newly created Office 2013 with SP1 folder. And if you have an ISO file of Office instead, use 7-Zip, WinRAR or WinZip to extract the ISO contents to this newly created folder.

You should now have a folder named Updates under Office 2013 with SP1 folder.

Step 3: Next, you need to extract the contents of SP1 executable to Updates folder located under Office 2013 with SP1 folder. For this you can use 7-Zip software.

Right-click on SP1 executable, click 7-Zip, click Extract files, and then select Updates folder located under Office 2013 SP1 folder and then click Extract to begin extracting the content. Once done, you can double-click on the Setup.exe located under Office 2013 with SP1 folder to begin installing Office 2013 program.
