PC users who used Windows 10 before upgrading to Windows 11 probably well aware of the News and Interests feature, which shows weather information on the Windows 10 taskbar.
In Windows 11, Microsoft has replaced the News and Interests feature with Widgets which you can open by clicking on the widget icon on the taskbar. In a way, Widgets in Windows 11 is the polished version of the News and Interests except that it does not display the weather information on the taskbar.
A significant percent of Windows 10 users did not like the News and Interests and turned off the same. But some users like the feature and wish to have the same in Windows 11 as well.
To start with, unfortunately, Windows 11 currently does not provide an official way to display the weather information on the taskbar.
Currently, you can view the weather and news by clicking on the widget icon on the taskbar. One can also use the built-in Weather app to view weather details, but it also requires opening the app and clicking on the Weather app icon on the taskbar to view weather information. What if you want to show the weather information on the Windows 11 taskbar?
Now that Windows 11 does not offer a way to display the weather information on the taskbar, you can resort to third-party tools to get the job done. Unfortunately, not many programs are around for the job, but there is a pretty good one.
Use Weather Bar (free) to display weather info on Windows 11 taskbar
Weather Bar is a free program designed to display weather information in the system tray area of the taskbar. As you can see in the picture below, it is not pretty as the News & Interests weather widget on Windows 10 but does the job without any issues.
Once installed, Weather Bar shows the temperature in the system tray. You can click on the same to open the flyout, which displays more information on the weather. The program sources weather information from OpenWeatherMap.
To set the location and options to access preferences, you can right-click on its icon and click the required option.
Note that Weather Bar was released back in 2018 and has not been updated since then. That said, it has no compatibility issues with Windows 11. So, you can go ahead and install the same.
As you can see in the picture below, the only downside is that it uses a white color font with a black outline that does not stand out when using the default light-colored theme. As a workaround, you can make the Windows 11 taskbar black!

Tip: If you do not mind showing weather information on the Windows 11 desktop instead of the taskbar, you can use programs such as the immensely popular Rainmeter.
