Ring Doorbell Chime and Notifications

You can use your Echo Show or any other Echo device as a doorbell chime and to receive motion alerts.

Here are the steps to set up your Echo to chime and receive motion alerts:

  • In the Alexa app, click on “Devices”.Select the Echo device that you want to announce your Ring doorbell events. If you want more than one Echo device to announce, you need to enable announcements on each device separately in the Alexa app.

  • Tap “Communications”.Tap “Announcements”.Slide the “Enabled” bar on. Go back to “Devices”.Select “All Devices”.Select your Ring doorbell.Turn on the “Doorbell Press” option.

Other Echo Devices

The only two Echo devices that have screens are Echo Show and Echo Spot. The main difference between the two devices is the shape and size, with the Spot being much smaller and kind of shaped like an eight ball. Ring Doorbell works exactly the same way with the Echo Spot as it does with the Show.

If you have an Echo device without a screen such as an Echo Dot, you obviously cannot view your doorbell’s live feed on it, but you can talk and listen through the doorbell.

Viewing Ring Doorbell on Your Smart TV

You can also view your Ring doorbell’s camera feed and talk through it on a Fire TV or a TV with a Fire Stick. The same voice commands that work with the Echo Show and Spot work on your Fire TV.

Ring doorbells are also compatible with some Samsung smart TVs.
