However, in order to set it up through google home on her phone she has to give location access to the app, which she doesn’t want to do. How do I set up Chromecast without location services?

1. Manually disable Location Services after Chromecast setup

1.1. Set up Chromecast as normal

  • Plug in your Chromecast device into your TV
  • Only use the provided AC adapter
  • Download the Google Home app on your mobile device or tablet
  • Connect the mobile device or tablet to the same Wi-Fi network as the Chromecast dongle
  • For Chromecast Ultra, connect directly to the network via an Ethernet cable
  • Open the Google Home app
  • At the top left of the Google Home app home screen, tap Add
  • Select Set up device and then choose Set up new devices

Your Chromecast device should now be ready to use, but it is currently using your location services by default.

  • Access the Location History section of your Google Account
  • Choose whether your account or your devices can report Location History to Google

  • Look under This device or Devices on this account, and turn the device on or off.

2. Use a VPN after setting up your Chromecast

2.1 Use the VPN on your device and use Cast Tab or Cast Desktop

Once the VPN is connected, they will be on separate networks and your PC won’t be able to find the Chromecast device.
