Have you ever wanted to show everyone a video that you have on your phone but then you have 5 people crowded around this small screen and no one can really see what’s going on? If you want to learn how to get your iPhone screen to be mirrored onto your Samsung TV this article will show you how to within 5 minutes.

There are two methods that can be used to screen mirror to your Samsung TV, one utilizing the built in AirPlay features and the other using an external HDMI connection. Keep reading to find the details of each one.

AirPlay Method

The easiest method would be to utilize the built-in features of iPhones called AirPlay. With this method you will need to make sure your TV is AirPlay 2 compatible and both the iPhone and TV are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

This is a feature that has been introduced to most devices in 2018 and allows for quick screen mirroring over Wi-Fi on smart devices connected to the same network as the iPhone.

Samsung TV Compatibility

To be able to use this you will need to verify that your Samsung TV is AirPlay 2 compatible, if you have a model from at least 2018 your TV is most likely compatible.

If you are not sure if it is compatible you can check via following these steps:

  • Click SettingsClick GeneralClick Apple AirPlay Settings

If you do not see that setting then unfortunately you will not be able to use this method (Check out HDMI method).

Samsung TV Settings

In order to use the AirPlay you will need to ensure that it is enabled on your TV by going to the Apple AirPlay Settings and toggle the option to enabled.

Other options available in the menu:

  • Code Require: Use this to require a passcode for either first connection or every connectionSubtitles and Captioning enable/disable

Once you have AirPlay enabled and your desired passcode requirements you can begin to screen the mirror with your iPhone!

iPhone Instructions

There are two options from the iPhone as well, you could mirror the screen and see all activity or you could mirror from individual Apps to just show what’s happening from those.

To mirror the whole screen, follow these steps:

  • Open the control center.Pulling down from the top right of the screen on iPhone X and later.Pull up from the bottom on iPhone 8 and earlier.Tap “Screen Mirroring”Select your Samsung TVEnter Password if required

This will start the screen mirroring, and when you are ready to stop the screen mirror all you have to do is tap the “Screen Mirroring” button again and select “Stop Mirroring” and you will end the screen mirroring to TV.

To mirror from inside an App, go to that App you want to share and click the “AirPlay” button and select your Samsung TV. To stop sharing all you need to do is click the “AirPlay” button again.

HDMI Method

This option is available to any Samsung TV that is either older than 2018 or not a Smart TV with Wi-Fi capabilities. In order to screen mirror via HDMI you will need an external Lightning to HDMI converter dongle that will plug into your iPhone and TV.

Once you get the converter all you will need to do is:

  • Plug HDMI into the dongle.Plug the HDMI into the Samsung TV.Plug the dongle Lightning port into the iPhone.Change TV Input to corresponding HDMI port.

This will begin to display your iPhone screen to the TV, in order to stop you will need to unplug the phone from the dongle.

No Wi-Fi

This HDMI method will work on any TV with HDMI capabilities and can be very convenient for when you are not connected to the Wi-Fi network and want to quickly plug in and show your phone on the big screen.

Having the converter available will ensure you are always able to share your iPhone screen even if Wi-Fi goes down or if you are in a public place and need to share your screen where there is no Wi-Fi available.

How to Screen Mirror on Samsung TV with iPhone

Depending on your Samsung TV model having AirPlay 2 capabilities (2018 and later models) you can easily screen mirror from your iPhone by simply using the “Screen Mirror” setting within the iPhone Control Center.

If you have an older TV or if it isn’t a Smart TV with Wi-Fi capabilities then you can buy an external Lightning to HDMI dongle that can mirror your iPhone screen by simply plugging in both ends. These two options make it quick and simple to share your iPhone screen onto the TV to show your favorite videos and Apps onto the big screen for everyone to enjoy!
