How To Restore Missing Store App In Windows 10

Computer users running recent builds of Windows 10 Insider builds have been complaining about the missing Store app. Some users are unable to find the Store app in the Start menu. For most uses, the Store app is not showing up in Settings > Apps > Apps & features.

The missing Store app is not an issue at all for users who don’t use the Store app much. But for users who often download apps and games from the Store, this is a serious issue.

Whether the Store app is missing after installing updates or after making any changes to the operating system, you can reinstall the Store app.

Restoring the missing Store app is quite easy in Windows 10. Following are the three ways to restore the missing Store app in Windows 10.

Method 1 of 3

Restore Store app via PowerShell

Step 1: Open PowerShell as administrator. To do that, right-click on the Start button and then click Windows PowerShell (Admin) option. Click Yes button when you get the User Account Control prompt.

Step 2: At the PowerShell window, copy and paste the following command and then press Enter key.

Get-AppXPackage WindowsStore -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}

Once the command is executed successfully, close the PowerShell and other running programs. Restart your PC once.

Reset the Store app to restore it

We have previously covered how to reset the Store app. For your convenience, sharing the instructions again.

NOTE: You might need to sign-in to the Store again as resetting the Store removes all data saved in it, including sign-in details.

Step 1: Open the Settings app and navigate to Apps > Apps & features.

Step 2: Look if the Microsoft Store entry is showing up in the list. If yes, click on it, and then click Advanced options link.

Step 3: In the resulting page, click the Reset button. Click the Reset button again when you get the confirmation dialog.

Run Windows Store Apps troubleshooter

There is a built-in troubleshooter in Windows 10 to troubleshoot Windows Store app and apps installed from the Store. The Windows Store Apps troubleshooter might help you to restore the Store. Navigate to Settings app > Update & Security > Troubleshoot to find the Windows Store Apps troubleshooter. Run the troubleshooter and follow on-screen directions.

Other solutions to restore missing Store app

If the above methods failed to restore the missing Store app, you can create a new user account and check if the Store app shows up there. If yes, move your data to the new account and start using that account. Alternatively, you can reset Windows 10 without data loss or perform a reinstall of Windows 10 without losing data.
