Before you begin, note that a subscription to Nest Aware is a must. Nest Aware recently updated its plans, making them even more affordable than before. It’s also worth noting that only clips created using the Nest application can be downloaded to your phone.
Using Your Phone
If you’d like to use your phone to record a clip or capture Nest Cam video, follow these steps:
- Select your camera in the Nest app.Go through the history of your camera.While the video is playing, press and to start the video, hold New Clip and then let go to stop it.Select Save to save the video to your phone.
Using Your PC
To use your PC to record a clip or capture Nest Cam video, follow these steps:

Does Nest Capture Video?
For a maximum of 30 days, Nest Cam can record indefinitely for free. The videos will be automatically removed after 30 days.
Nest cameras can record video streams indefinitely (with or without events) and upload them to the cloud. Users can review a maximum video recording history of 30 days using the Nest app.
Can I Save Net Cam Videos Locally?
Your videos are frequently uploaded to the cloud via secure Wi-Fi, but you must have working Wi-Fi and Nest service for this to happen.

If you cannot communicate for more than a few hours, your Nest device may become inoperable without the Aware subscription.
Nest has also introduced the Nest Aware Plus monitoring service, which offers the same benefit but with a more expanded view of video history. With Nest aware plus, which begins at $12/month, you get up to 10 days of round-the-clock video and event recordings for 60 days.

You can view your Nest Cam on a computer. Connect your computer to the internet, open your browser, and log into the Google Nest website, then open the live feed. Nest devices can be connected to a computer and viewed with the Nest Aware and Nest Hello applications.
If you’re a subscriber to Nest Aware, the video history of your Nest camera will automatically be saved, and a cloud-based version of this can be viewed. You can view the video history of your Nest camera on your computer, tablet, or phone.
Log in to your Nest account and choose a camera to view a computer’s video history with a subscription to Nest aware. On a computer, the video history on your camera’s timeline of events will appear at the screen bottom, allowing you to search through your recorded video for relevant events.
