Just like mobile operating systems, Windows 8 also comes with app Store. It’s one of the main features of Windows 8, and lets users browse and safely install thousands of apps. While downloading desktop apps aren’t supported, users can install modern UI (also known as Metro-style) apps.

We have previously shown you how to search the Store, how to install apps from the Store, and also how to disable the Store on your machine. Now that Windows 8 RTM is released, this is the right time to purchase some cool apps from the Store.

Please note that purchased apps from the Store can be installed on up to five different Windows 8 machines provided that you use the same Microsoft account on all machines.

In this guide, we are going to show you how to purchase apps from the Store in Windows 8:

Step 1: Switch to the Start screen, click or tap the Store app tile to open the Store.

Step 2: Search for the app that you wish to purchase and install (see how to search Windows Store).

Step 3: Click or tap the app that you want to purchase and install.

Step 4: On the left side, you will see Buy and Try options. To purchase the app, click or tap Buy button.

Step 5: When you click or tap Buy button, you will see Confirm and Cancel button. To proceed, click or tap Confirm button.

Step 6: You will be asked to enter Microsoft account password that you have linked to the Store. Enter the password and click or tap Ok button to proceed to the Payment and billing page. If you have forgot your Microsoft account password, you can check out our how to recover or reset Microsoft account password guide.

Step 7: On the Payment and billing page, you need to select the type of your credit card, enter credit card number, card expiration date, name of card and CVV code, your first and last name, billing address, and phone number.

Finally, click or tap Submit button and then enter the credit card password to installing the purchased app. Once installed, you will see the app was installed notification.

From now onwards, you just need to enter your Microsoft account password and credit card password to begin installing apps from the Store. Good luck!
