On your Windows computer, you may have a font army that you can use to spice up your papers, presentations, and other files. But how do you know which fonts are available, how they’ll look, and where you may get new ones? You can see which fonts are installed and view and print a preview of each one using the Fonts applet in the Control Panel.
You may also browse your fonts and add new ones by dragging and dropping them into the Fonts tool, found under Settings. In Windows 10 and Windows 11, the Control Panel applet and the Settings tool have the same appearance and functionality. This article will show you how to organize all of your Fonts on a Windows computer.
How to Manage Your Fonts on Windows PC
1) View The Fonts
Let us first begin by viewing all the fonts installed on our PC. This can be done by following the below steps:
Step 1: Press Windows + I to open the search box.
Step 2: Type Control Panel in the search box and click on the relevant search result.
Step 3: Once the Control Panel box opens, click on the View by option in the top right corner and choose Large Icons.
Step 4: Now locate Fonts and click on it.
Step 5: You will be able to view all the fonts installed on your computer arranged alphabetically.
2) Preview The Fonts
Step 1: Double click on any font displayed in the control panel box using the steps above.
Step 2: A new box will open and display the font style in different sizes with other details.
Note: If the Font shown in the Control Panel window is not a single font but a font family, it will display all the individual fonts within the Font family. You can then click on each font to preview it.
3) Hide Your Fonts
When working with particular programs and apps, you can hide a font you don’t want to see or use. When you hide Fonts in the Fonts screen, they become invisible in several built-in programs like WordPad and Notepad. However, because applications like Microsoft Office build their font menus, hiding fonts through the Control Panel has no effect. Here are the steps:
Step 1: Right-click a font and choose Hide from the pop-up menu to hide it.
Step 2: You can also have all fonts that aren’t designed for your language settings automatically hidden.
Step 3: Go to the left sidebar and click the Font settings option.
Step 4: Check the option to Hide Fonts based on language settings in the Font preferences window.
Step 5: Click on OK.
4) Remove The Fonts Permanently
If you’re confident you’ll never use a Font, you can uninstall it. Because Windows fonts are protected, you won’t be able to erase them. Windows will stop you from removing such a font. Unprotected Fonts, including those installed by Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite, can be removed.
Step 1: Right-click an unprotected font and select Delete from the Context menu to remove it.
Step 2: You will receive a prompt. Click on the Yes button.
Note: If you delete a font family, all the individual fonts within the family will be deleted.
5) Fonts As A Backup
Before you delete a font, you should back it up if you need it again. Make a backup folder for this. Then follow these steps:
Step 1: Copy the font (or font family) by right-clicking on it.
Step 2: Copy the font and save it to your backup folder.
Step 3: The fonts can now be removed if not needed, or you can move this copy to another computer if required.

Step 6: Next, select the Backup Media Type and click on Next.
Step 7: Now, choose the location of the backup file.
Step 8: Finally, you need to choose the folder that you want to take a backup of and click on Next.
Step 9: Choose the Backup Immediately option and click on the Next button.
Step 10: The backup file will be created with an extension of .7z.
