The 2022/23 La Liga season is set to start on August 12 and finish on June 4, 2023. The first game will be Osasuna vs. Sevilla, which is scheduled to begin at 8 PM BST (12 PM PST / 3 PM EST), although it’s important to note that kickoff times are subject to change based on the day’s weather conditions. Due to the 2022 World Cup, LaLiga will pause on the weekend between November 12-13, resuming on December 29, 2022. Below, you’ll find country-specific guides explaining how to watch La Liga online from anywhere in the world.

This post will only be recommending official La Liga broadcasters. While unlicensed streams are inevitable for high-profile events, it’s essential to remember that these are prone to mid-game takedowns. Further, they’re usually laggy and low-resolution. There’s no reason to resort to unofficial La Liga streams with so many legitimate ways to watch.

La Liga games will be shown on region-locked streaming services. If you are traveling abroad, you will need the help of a Virtual Private Network (VPN) to access your usual home services.

How to watch La Liga with a VPN

Need help getting started? Just follow the steps below to bypass geo-restrictions and watch La Liga abroad.

Here’s how to stream the La Liga 2022/23 season online from anywhere:

  • Choose a suitable VPN for streaming. We recommend NordVPN, but Surfshark and ExpressVPN are solid and suitable alternatives.
  • Download and install the correct version of the VPN software for your operating system.
  • Decide which source you’d like to use from our list below.
  • Connect to a server in your chosen source’s broadcast area. For example, you’d use a British server for Eleven Sports or a Spanish server to watch on beIN LaLiga.
  • Try loading a video on your source’s site (you may have to reload the page first). Any errors should disappear, and your content should start playing almost instantly.

This should be straightforward, but you may experience some hiccups, so it’s best to test out the stream before the kickoff of an important match.

Where to stream La Liga soccer live online

La Liga features some of the best soccer teams in the world, so it comes as no surprise that it’s being broadcast worldwide. Take a look at the list below to find out where you can find La Liga coverage in your country.

There are no hidden terms—just contact support within 30 days if you decide NordVPN isn’t right for you and you’ll get a full refund. Start your NordVPN trial here.

UK

Premier Sports is region-locked and only available in the UK, meaning you’ll need a VPN to access it from abroad. Still don’t have a VPN? NordVPN comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee so you can try it risk-free.

USA

It’s been a massive year for ESPN, with the network making both La Liga and the Bundesliga exclusively available on ESPN+. This service costs $6.99 monthly and has no free trial period. However, this is still a pretty good deal for soccer fans, especially if you speak Spanish. The service’s new ESPN+Mas section offers Spanish-language coverage of every La Liga match, the Carabao Cup, and Mexico’s Liga MX.

ESPN+ is only available in the US, so you’ll have to use a VPN to access it abroad.

Spain

Two networks are showing La Liga games in Spain: Movistar LaLiga and GOL. GOL will show one match per day for free, but there’s no indication of how they judge which game this will be. Also, this platform won’t show any games featuring teams that are playing in European competitions.

Movistar will be showing nine matches per week (including the biggest game) on its website and via the Movistar mobile app. This service offers various channel packages, but to watch La Liga, you’ll have to sign up for The League plan, which costs €22.50 a month. There’s no way to stream these matches without a Movistar TV subscription.

Australia

beIN Sports holds the broadcast rights to this league in Australia. If you’re already signed up, you’ll be able to watch online at no added cost. Otherwise, your best bet is Kayo — this service costs $25 AUD per month, comes with a 14-day free trial, and allows you to stream the entire tournament live.

These services are both region-locked, meaning you’ll need a VPN to use them abroad.

Other locations

The La Liga tournament is being broadcast in numerous different regions. We’ve covered some of these above, but if your country isn’t mentioned, you can check the official La Liga broadcasters to find a suitable local source.

Once you’ve found a suitable source, you should have no problem streaming in your home country. However, if you’re traveling, chances are you’ll be locked out and unable to view matches. As mentioned earlier, all you need is a VPN to fix this. Simply connect to a VPN server in your home country and you’ll be able to access your streaming source as if you were at home.

Can I use a free VPN to watch La Liga matches?

Free VPNs might seem like an easy way to protect yourself when streaming, but there are several reasons why we strongly advise you not to use one. Firstly, they’re slow and inconsistent, thanks to their small-scale networks and massive user bases. Live streaming requires a fast connection, most free VPNs simply can’t keep up. For this reason, some have instituted data limits and queuing systems, which only compounds the problem. Even when watching in standard definition, there’s no guarantee you’ll be able to watch a whole match.

In fact, there’s no guarantee that you’re safer when using a free VPN. Recently, a study showed that scores of free VPN apps attempted to install malware onto users’ devices. Further, many of these so-called VPNs never actually encrypted anything. The risks are varied and numerous: a free VPN could install a keylogger and give away your login credentials, it could lock your system entirely, or allow your system to be used as part of a botnet. To keep your personal information safe, we recommend using a VPN service with a proven record of protecting its users’ privacy.
