Today, modern technology in the realm of television is astounding.  We are now given so many channels with perfect colored pictures that we could not watch them all in one day if we tried, yet, we want more.  We want to jailbreak our Smart TVs to get ALL the channels, and so our TVs can double as computers.

Check the Firmware

Enter the Pin

With your Smart TV on, go to “Settings” on the remote, and then opt for “Setup Options.”  You will then be prompted to enter a PIN code. Typically, you will be able to find a default PIN code by searching online. The first one you should try is “0000.”

Time for Some Formalities

Next up, you will be asked to select your language preference for your TV. The correct language could automatically appear after you’ve entered an accepted PIN code. This will be followed by a question as to the country in which you reside.

Now that you have completed the formalities, the business part begins.

Follow the First Prompt

The following prompt you will see will say “Auto Tuning,” and you will choose the “Channel Type” option, followed by “Digital.”

Once your TV is in the Auto Tuning process, you can take a breath while the TV does its thing.  When the Auto Tuning process is complete, click “Next.” If you are prompted to do another Auto Tune, simply select “No,” stopping the process and readying you for the next step.

Provide a Passcode

You will now be asked for your “Internet Service Location.” You will find and select yours.  Next, select “Aerial Option” and “Next.” Then, you will be asked for a passcode that you will enter, and we then move to the final step.

Update the Television

The last step in the process is to click “Update Now,” then wait. Once it has finished updating, allow the TV to rest when you are asked if it can power down. Once you turn the power back on, the updates will be applied to your brand new, jailbroken Samsung Smart TV.

If, for some reason, you are not prompted to shut the TV down, then something was missed along the way, so repeat the process.

After Jailbreaking

There are several schools of thought on this issue, and as with most controversy, there is never a clear-cut black and white.
