Thanks to the Google Home app, the setup process couldn’t be easier.  Google’s Home app is required for the camera to be properly set up.  The Home app can be found on Apple’s App Store or on the Play Store if using an Android device.  Once the app is downloaded, its user-friendly interface will guide you through the setup process.

After opening the Home app it may prompt you to log into your Google Account.  This particular prompting depends on whether you have logged into the app previously.  If you are prompted and do not have an account, you can sign up for one here, if you don’t need an account simply use your current Google Account to log in.

Make sure to complete the entire setup before installing your camera.  In most cases the QR code on the camera body is needed to complete the setup process.  Once logged in, the setup assistant will help you finish the remaining steps of the setup.

How to Install Your Nest Cam With The Stand

If you’re looking for the quickest installation method that requires the least amount of work, then the stand is for you.   Unfortunately, the stand is not included in the box, it requires a separate purchase.  Due to its ease of use it is totally worth the extra cost.  The stand fits perfectly on a table, countertop, or on any flat surface.  Simply sit the camera on the stand and voila, you’re done with the installation.

How to Install Your Nest Cam With The Magnetic Plate

The magnetic plate is probably the second easiest installation method and one that doesn’t cost extra money.  There are two different ways to install the camera using the magnetic plate.  One way is with screws and the other is without screws.

For installation on a magnetic surface, put the magnetic plate onto the surface and then attach your camera onto it, no screws are necessary for this option.  This type of installation is perfect for a refrigerator or for a magnetic cabinet where a stand might fall due to doors opening and closing frequently.

Installation with the magnetic plate on any non-magnetic surface requires screws and the use of the wall plate.  Both the wall plate and screws are included in the box.

If you prefer to keep your camera plugged in and not use batteries there’s an option for that too.  All you need for this installation to work properly is a weatherproof outlet and the cable which is sold separately.  The cable, like the stand, is optional and is not included in the box.  However, if it is inconvenient for you to change the batteries on your camera, it is worth the purchase 

Everything that is needed for this installation comes with the purchase of the cable.  You can choose from two different cable sizes: 16.4 ft or 32.8 ft.  Both sizes come with clips, screws, and wall anchors.
