How to Install Chromecast on Your Samsung TV

As noted, if you opted for the Samsung smart TV, it may already come pre-installed with Chromecast. To see if your product has this feature, consult your user manual.

With that being said, if your Chromecast is separate from your TV, here are some specific steps to take to install the device:

Plug in Your Chromecast

To set up your Chromecast, you must first plug it in. Insert the micro-USB cable into the Chromecast and connect the charging block to an outlet. Your Chromecast will come with an HDMI cable that you can directly plug into your TV.

Both of these items must be plugged in at the same time for them to work.

Download the Google Home App

You will not need to use the Google Home app every time you use Chromecast. However, you will need it for the initial setup and future configurations. You can download the Google Home app on the Google Play store or the App Store.

Note: You will need a Google account to use the app.

Follow the Prompts on the Screen

Once you reach this stage, you’re in the home stretch. To complete the setup process, navigate to the Google Home screen. From there:

  • Select the “+” symbolTap “Set up device”Choose “New Device”

At this point, follow the prompts on the screen. Depending on what generation Chromecast you have, it may ask you to enter your Wi-Fi credentials, along with other relevant information.

If you’ve purchased a used Chromecast, make sure that the owner has been erased.
