Corrupt Steam Files – Since the game is available on Steam, if Steam games files get corrupted you might face this issue. To check if everything is okay, verify the integrity of files.
Low Priority Assigned – Another reason for Mordhau crashing on PC is the allocation of low resources. Amongst the other processes that run on PC, lower resources are granted to Mordhau this crashes the game.
Corrupt Audio Driver – With the help of audio drivers, you can communicate between game and computer hardware. If Mordhau fails to support enhancements, it crashes during the game.
Inadequate Hardware Resources – If hardware requirements for any software or game are not fulfilled, you end up experiencing crash issues. Same is the case with Mordhau.
No Administrative Privileges – To run a game Steam requires admin access when it isn’t there, you face issues with Steam games.
Corrupt game files – Faulty game files is another reason for Mordhau not working. Moreover, because of it, you cannot update the game.
Overclocking – To boost game speed gamers, overclock their CPU but sometimes this conflicts with the game mechanics and you might end up facing Mordhau crash issues.

Right-click Mordhau and select Properties.
Click the LOCAL FILES tab > VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME FILES.
Restart Mordhau and see if the issue is fixed or not.
If Mordhau is still crashing, move to the next step.
4. Update your graphics driver
Having the latest compatible graphics driver helps get the best performance out of your hardware and fix the game crash, lag, or abnormal display.
This problem can be fixed in two ways:
Manual Ways for Updating Drivers To update a driver manually, you need to visit the manufacturer’s site and search for the latest compatible driver. While doing so, make sure you know the details like operating system, model number, etc. This will help get the accurate driver for your system and device.
However, if this sounds too much of a work, we have an automatic way to do it.
Automatic Way to Update Drivers
Don’t want to get into technical details? No Worries. Use Smart Driver Care, an excellent Windows driver updating utility. This best driver updater knows where to look for driver updates. It automatically recognizes the system and checks for outdated or corrupt drivers.
To use it, follow the steps below:
1. Download and install Smart Driver Care
Run Smart Driver Care and click Scan Now. The driver updating utility will now scan your PC for outdated drivers.
Once you have the scan results, click Update All to update all outdated drivers. However, if you are using the free version of Smart Driver Care, you will have to do this process manually, i.e. you will have to click Update Driver next to each driver.
But those using the registered version can update all drivers at once.
This is the difference between the Free and Registered version.
Note: Smart Driver Care comes with a 60-day money-back guarantee
4. After updating the driver restart system and then try to play Mordhau.
You should not face any problem.
5. Use DirectX 12 to Launch Mordhau
DirectX helps your PC interact with graphics cards and render games. If DirectX is not installed correctly, your game might not work.
To resolve the problem and make Mordhau work without any problem, try launching the game using DirectX 12. To do so, follow the steps below:
Open and run Steam.
Click the LIBRARY tab.
Select Mordhau > right-click > Properties.
Click SET LAUNCH OPTIONS.
From here, remove any launch options that you see.
Type -dx12 and click OK.
Restart Mordhau.
See if this helps if not reopen launch Options box and clear the launch option.
6. Delete Configuration Files
If none of the above steps helped try deleting configuration files. This will help resolve the issue.
Before following the steps explained below to make sure you are logged in as administrator and all instances of Mordhau are closed.
Note: Deleting configuration files also deletes some of your preferences. This means you will have to set them again.
- Press Windows + R and type “%appdata%”> Ok
- Since you are in Roaming, you need to go back one step and click Local.
- Search for the Mordhau folder and head to the Saved
- Here, you will be able to see three files with the name of ‘ushaderprecache’. Select and delete these files.

Priority of a process tells the PC what to do. If Mordhau is not getting the priority, it will cause problems. Therefore, you need to set the game to ‘High Priority’ and see if this works for us.
Note: If you do not want to delete these files, you can move them to an alternate location. In case the problem is not resolved, you can put these files back.

Press Windows + X keys
From the context menu, click Power Options.
Click Additional Power Settings.
Create a power plan.
Here select High Performance > Next > Create.
Restart your system and see if this fixes the problem.
What is the difference between Balanced and High Performance?
Balanced: as the name explains, it automatically adjusts CPU speed according to the need.
High Performance: High-Performance mode ensures PC runs at high speeds most of the time. This mode generates more heat.
9. Configure virtual memory
Mostly, Virtual memory is an extension of the physical memory on the system. It is a combination of RAM and hard drive. When your PC runs out of RAM, it uses virtual memory for temporary file storage.
To resolve the problem with Mordhau, try optimizing this virtual memory.
Type advanced system settings in the Windows search bar.
Open it, click Advanced tab > under Performance click Settings.
Click Advanced tab > Change
Uncheck Automatically manage paging file size for all drives.
Select system driver, generally it is C drive.
Now click Custom size, and enter 4096next to Initial size and Maximum size box. Virtual memory should be set three times to the size of your physical memory (RAM). For example, 4 GB (4096M), whichever is larger.
Click Set > OK.
Restart your system and launch Mordhau.
See it this helps, if not move to the next step.
10. Disable Overclocking
Gamers these days purchase unlocked processors and graphics cards. This helps overclock the system and run them quickly. When this is done, hardware heats up, and the system reverts to the normal clock speed until hardware cools down. When it cools down again, the speed is increased.
Indeed, this increases system speed but also created problems. Therefore, if you use an overclocked system, disable overclocking and then try to use Mordhau. This should fix the crashing issue with Mordhau.
If this too doesn’t work, then we are left with only one option reinstalling Mordhau.
