How to Fix “Aw, Snap!” Error in Chrome:
Reload the Web Page:
Many a times it is a temporary error that is resolved by refreshing or reloading the page. You can just press F5 on your keyboard to reload the webpage.
You can also click on reload icon located at the top left corner of the screen to resolve this error message.
Check for Internet Connectivity:
Make sure that the computer on which you are getting this error has uninterrupted Internet connectivity.
If the computer is on Wi-Fi network then make sure it is connected to that network with active Internet. If the computer is over Wired network then make sure all the cables are properly connected.
Use Incognito Mode:
There might be some piece of information stored in the Chrome’s cache that is preventing the webpage from loading and generating “Aw, Snap” error message. Therefore, try loading the page in the incognito mode or private mode in Chrome.
To open Chrome in incognito mode click on three dots located at the top right corner of the Chrome window and from the drop-down menu select the New incognito window option. You can also use the shortcut Ctrl+Shift+N to open the incognito window directly. If the webpage opens correctly without the error in incognito mode then you need to clear the cache and cookies of Chrome.
Clear Cache along with Cookies:
As per Google itself, there may have some information stored in the Chrome that results in Aw, Snap error message. Therefore, clearing the browsing data can resolve this error.
To clear cache and cookies and Chrome you can follow the steps below:
Open Chrome and click on the 3 dots located at the top right corner of the screen.
Now from the drop-down menu select More tools > Clear browsing data.
Now from Time range select All time and click on Clear Data.
Now again, try to load the webpage and check whether you continue getting the same error. If you are still out of luck then move on to next step.
Try Disabling the Extensions:
Sometimes this error is caused due to an incompatible extension. Therefore, to resolve the error we should try disabling extensions one by one, once located the faulty extension remove/uninstall it.
To disable the Chrome extensions, follow the steps given below:
- Open Chrome and click on the 3 dots located at the top right corner of the screen.
- Now from the drop-down menu select More tools > Extensions.
To disable the extension, uncheck the box next to that extension.
If disabling an extension resolves the “Aw, Snap” error then that extension is the culprit. Remove that extension by clicking on the bin icon next to that extension.
Release Memory:
This error can also cause if your system is running out of memory. In other words, due to insufficient memory the webpage is crashing with the error.
To free some memory, you can close all other tabs that are currently opened in the Chrome. If this also does not resolve the problem then try to close other applications that are currently running on your system. If the error is due to insufficient memory then it will be resolved once the memory is released.
Reboot Your System:
It may be possible that any currently running app or a process running in the background is causing the error. So, a system reboot can resolve Aw, Snap error.
Scan the System for Malware:
A malware deep hidden in your system can disrupt the functionality of Chrome. These malware can either crash a webpage or even complete browser. Therefore, if all the above steps do not resolve the problem, then update the Antivirus or Anti-Malware installed on your system to the latest available definitions and run a complete scan of the system.
You can also use Chrome Cleanup Tool if you are on Windows operating system. The tool will perform a complete scan and removes any software that it finds may cause problem for Chrome.
Once you have removed the infections and malicious programs via Anti-Virus or Chrome Cleanup Tool, check whether the error is resolved or not.

Update Chrome:
Every update of Chrome comes with latest security fixes. Therefore, it is advisable to always keep your browser updated.
To update Chrome, click on the 3 dots located at top-right corner of the screen and from the drop-down menu click on Help > About Google Chrome
In case your browser is outdated it will be automatically updated to the latest. Once it is updated, relaunch the browser and check whether the Aw, Snap error is resolved or not.
Check your Antivirus Settings:
It may happen that the security software like antivirus, firewall you are using on our system is blocking Chrome. To resolve this review your security software settings and if diagnosed that it is blocking Chrome them immediately add Chrome to the exception list of that security software.
