There might come a time when you need to factory reset your Google Home Mini and Google Nest Mini for one reason or another. A factory reset is usually done in order to wipe all personalized settings and data from your device. This could be with the intention of selling the device with the guarantee that the recipient won’t access your information, or to rectify issues with said device.

If it’s the latter, a factory reset might still not be the magic pill that rectifies everything wrong with your device, but rather as a last-ditch attempt when all else has failed. Some due diligence is expected of you and that should always start with a simple reboot. Unplug the device from the power source a minute or so and then plug it back in and see if it fixes your issue.

If that fails, please verify that the microphone is actually turned on. You could also go as far as removing the device from your Google Home app on your smartphone if only to rule out that that scenario.

The process to factory reset the Google Home Mini differs from that of the Google Nest Mini even though the two devices are almost indistinguishable from one another. Let’s take you through how you can factory reset both to start afresh.
